I understand how overwhelming the postpartum period can be, and I’m here to help make this transition as smooth as possible. Here’s how I can support your mental health and well-being during the day:

I am a Postpartum Doula with a Focus on Mental Health

As a postpartum doula, my mission is to support families during the critical transition after childbirth, with a special focus on mental health. I understand that while becoming a parent is one of the most beautiful experiences, it can also bring significant emotional and mental challenges. This is why I prioritize mental health in my practice, offering a compassionate and nurturing environment for new parents.

Why Mental Health Matters

The postpartum period can be overwhelming, and many new parents experience a range of emotions, from joy to anxiety and everything in between. I firmly believe that mental health is as critical as physical well-being during this time. By addressing mental health proactively, we can prevent the escalation of postpartum mood disorders, such as postpartum depression (PPD), anxiety, and other perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs).

What I offer:

  1. Mental Health Check-Ins: When desired, I conduct regular mental health check-ins to provide an opportunity for parents to express their feelings, concerns, and experiences. These check-ins create a supportive space where parents can feel heard and validated.
  2. Safe Space for Discussion: I am a trusted, non-judgmental person to talk to about any questions or concerns related to postpartum mental health for you or your partner. Whether either of you are experiencing sadness, anxiety, or uncertainty, I am here to listen and provide support.
  3. Educational Resources: I offer information about PPD, anxiety, and other PMADS, including signs to watch for, coping strategies, and when to seek professional help. My goal is to empower families with knowledge and awareness.
  4. Building Connections: I can help connect families with mental health professionals, support groups, and additional resources to ensure that they have comprehensive support during this time.
  5. Emotional & Practical Support: Besides mental health support, I provide practical assistance with baby care and household tasks, allowing parents the bandwidth to focus on their emotional well-being and recovery.

Why pick the name

Colorado Purple Lotus Doula?

I am very proud to be a Colorado Native and to serve the people in this beautiful state. Currently, I serve families across the greater metro area from Northern Colorado Springs to Longmont, and Morrison to Aurora.

Purple has always been a favorite color of mine, but especially since breast cancer treatment. I  tend to keep my hair in some shade of purple and have for over 10 years. But there is so much more meaning behind this beautiful color!

  • Purple is a mixture of the calm stability of blue and the fierce energy and strength of red
  • Purple represents transformation, strength, & power; all of which are part of the process of becoming a parent and going through breast cancer treatment
  • Purple encourages us to divulge our innermost thoughts, which enlightens us with the wisdom of who we are and encourages spiritual growth
  • Purple symbolizes royalty, spirituality, mystery, imagination, compassion, fantasy, wisdom, being unique, brave, and creativity

Lotus flowers, in general, represent purity, overcoming adversity, and rebirth. Purple lotus flowers, are very rare in nature and represent self-awakening, harmony, and balance with oneself.

I feel that these elements combined represent a little bit of my own story and that they also represent the strength and transformation that my clients experience on their journeys, hence the name The Colorado Purple Lotus Doula.
