Meet your Denver Breast & Gynecological Cancer Doula & Photographer, Linnell Keeling
Hello, my name is Linnell, and my work is rooted in compassion, lived experience, and a deep commitment to supporting individuals facing breast and gynecological cancers. I am a breast cancer survivor, a breast and gynecological cancer doula, and hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Services. My approach is trauma-informed, grounded, and centered on ensuring no one has to navigate cancer feeling unseen or alone.
A Survivor-Led Path to cancer doula support
In July 2018, my life changed when I was diagnosed with Stage IIIC Inflammatory Breast Cancer. My treatment included chemotherapy, a bilateral mastectomy with lymph node removal, radiation, and a hysterectomy. While my medical care was thorough, I often felt the absence of consistent emotional and practical support during treatment and recovery.
That experience shaped the work I do today. I understand firsthand how isolating and overwhelming cancer can feel, and it is that lived experience that drives my commitment to walking beside others with empathy, steadiness, and respect.
Breast & Gynecological Cancer Doula Care
As a breast and gynecological cancer doula, I provide non-medical, compassionate support to individuals navigating diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and survivorship. My work includes emotional support, preparation for appointments and procedures, post-surgical and recovery support, advocacy within medical spaces, and holding space for the many physical and emotional changes that come with cancer.
Support is offered both in person in the Denver metro area and virtually for clients outside the area, allowing care to be accessible, flexible, and responsive to each person’s needs
Healing-Centered Photography
Photography has been an essential part of my own healing and continues to be a meaningful part of my work today. During my cancer treatment, participating in a photography session helped me reconnect with my sense of identity and beauty at a time when cancer had taken so much.
I now offer healing-centered empowerment photography for those affected by cancer, along with family and lifestyle newborn photography and boudoir photography. These sessions are consent-based, trauma-informed, and focused on honoring connection, dignity, and self-expression—never performance.
Photography is offered as a supportive experience, not just an image, and is always guided by where each client is emotionally and physically.
Education, Advocacy, and Ongoing Growth
In addition to my work as a doula and photographer, I am pursuing education and clinical training to become a Mammography, Breast Ultrasound, and Breast Biopsy Technologist. This path reflects my commitment to supporting patients both emotionally and within the medical system, helping bridge technical care with human connection, advocacy, and understanding.
That commitment to access, education, and advocacy also led me to found Scars of Beauty, a nonprofit organization created to expand support, healing, and community for individuals affected by breast and gynecological cancers. Through Scars of Beauty, I provide community-based programs, empowerment photography experiences, education, advocacy, and peer support—particularly for those who may not have access to private services.
While my private doula practice allows me to offer individualized, sliding-scale support, Scars of Beauty focuses on grant-funded and community-centered offerings that broaden access and foster connection beyond one-on-one care.
This image represents my own journey of reclaiming my identity and confidence after cancer. Photography has been a powerful part of my healing, and it informs the compassionate, consent-based approach I bring to my work today.
Walking Beside You
Whether through in-person support, virtual emotional care, or healing-centered photography, my work is guided by one core belief:
support during cancer is not a luxury—it is essential.
It is an honor to walk beside individuals and families facing breast and gynecological cancers, offering presence, compassion, and care during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
