WHAT IS A DOULA?
A doula is a trained, non-medical support professional who provides emotional support, education, advocacy, and presence during significant life experiences. Doulas help individuals and families feel informed, supported, and less alone during times of transition, uncertainty, or stress. While doulas are often associated with birth, the role of a doula extends beyond pregnancy and can include support during medical experiences, illness, loss, and major life changes.
WHAT KIND OF DOULA AM I?
I am a breast and gynecological cancer doula. I provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to individuals navigating diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and survivorship. My role includes emotional support, help preparing for appointments and procedures, support during medical visits when appropriate, and guidance for patients and caregivers as they process decisions, changes, and emotions throughout the cancer experience.
